Fender AS Mark Hoppus Bass

So I bought a new bass guitar last week.

I bought this one in a Fender outlet in Augsburg. Actually there are some nicks and nacks in the body and neck, and the neck wasn’t that straight like need it to play. The trussrod was broken at the neckjoint side of the neck. I could repair it real easy and it works again. So I can adjust the neck now.

The serial number tells me that it was built in 2005 in Mexico. So it’s not the US quality, but till now I couldn’t find anything negative about this guitar.

It has an alder Jazz Bass body with string through neck construction, and a modern -C-shape Preci Bass neck. I guess this is, why it is called Precision Bass and not Jazz Bass.

The Basslines Quater Pounder Splitcoil works really cool and I LOVE the 1-Knob-Electronics! This is P’n'P !!

Played with finger style, it sounds like a “modern” Preci Bass. But if you play it with a pleck, it sounds like a saw, really growling, fat! This is what I like!

The only handicap about this guitar is, that it’s only a 4-string….. But you get this sound only with a real Fender, and a 5-string Fender is not a Fender, I think… so…

I bought the parts for the valve caster and spent some time for soldering.

I can tell you - it sounds WOOOOW!!!

Ima recording some samples for you guys to hear it!

btw: I’m building a 3-channel tube overdrive, too. first results were really great, I had the chance to play it with a Strat and a Paula on a VOX AC30… PHAT!!!
